Click on the syringe and go to the veterinary data-base, where you can either view listed veterinarians in your state, or enter another Bulldog veterinarian into the data-base for other Bulldoggers to use.
Vaccinate against: Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Coronavirus, Parvovirus, Bordetella, Parainfluenza and in many areas, Lyme Disease.Common Parasites: Tapeworm, Hookworm, Whipworm, Roundworm, Heartworm, Coccidia and Giardia
Vaccinations are important to
maintain health, as is an annual exam by a Bulldog competent veterinarian. Fecal exams
should also be done regularly to check for internal parasites. Should parasites be
present, the proper medication to eliminate them should be used. We do not recommend a
general worming medication be given to any Bulldog, if no parasites are present. Remember,
worming medications are poison and we see no need to give a poison to a Bulldog if there
is no need. This, combined with a proper diet, lots of clean, fresh water, exercise,
training and all the love you can offer, your Bulldog will be a wonderful family member.

Don't forget to let the firefighters know that you have pets! You can purchase stickers to put on your doors or windows to let them know you have pets in the house that are an important part of your family. It is also important to put stickers on the windows of your children's room(s). Some fire stations sell these stickers to raise funds, check with your local fire station... Aimee... |
put some water bottles in the freezer. The following day, as they melt you will have fresh COLD water all day long. We started doing this while hiking, but then realized that it's great to have on hand for our bullies when we all go somewhere together, especially car trips. (Don't worry, we have NEVER taken our bullies hiking.)... Christine |
Skunk
|
| Deskunking Recipe: Bathe your pet with a mixture of 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide (from the drug store) plus 1/4 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) plus 1 teaspoon liquid soap. Follow the bath with a tap water rinse... This tip is from Ruth... |
| Found that good ol' Massengil (douche) works on skunk odors. :) The main ingredient in it is white vinegar which I've also used in lieu of Massengil or tomato juice (cheaper too and easier to keep a whole gallon on hand :). It is clean and tends not to cause staining on white fur like the tomato juice does. Was told by my vet to use anything that has the acid in it like white vinegar or tomato juice. This tip is from Lorraine... |
| Real vanilla extract (yes, the stuff you use in baking) to be most effective. Cuts the odor and makes them smell like Brute perfume for a while. They won't smell skunky when they get wet. Seems to help the whole odor problem go away more quickly. Don't use imitation vanilla. This tip is from Cel |
| Believe it or not, "Bounce" dryer sheets work great! Just rub them onto your stinker- and no embarrassing visits to the drugstore!! This tip is from Elisa |

The
Wonders of Red Apple Cider Vinegar by Carolyn Waller
Equal parts water
and apple cider vinegar for cleaning. For medicating such as hot spots, use full strength.
Middle ear infection, a couple of drops full strength. For a bath rinse to treat skin and
really get a good rinse of the soap off the coat, use about a quart to half gallon of red
vinegar in three inches or so of bathtub water.
Important reminder: Pure, red apple cider vinegar is the only vinegar to use. It is made
from apples. White vinegar can be made from lots of by-products such as wood pulp and I
would not recommend it for use for anything. "An apple a day (one tablespoon of red
vinegar) keeps the doctor away," and saves you so much $$$$.
