Mission Statement
See bottom of this site for listing of our Board of Directors

The idea and inspiration of the Bulldog Rescue Railroad got its ideas from history can be traced to the Slavery Underground Railroad which arose, during the United States colonial era, as a means for slaves to "leapfrog" their way to freedom from one safehouse to the next.

Simply stated, the Bulldog Rescue Railroad is a group of people, from all walks of life, located all across the US and Canada who have agreed in some form or another to assist in the transporting, fostering, evaluating and placement of Bulldog adoption candidates as well as screening those who desire to adopt a bulldog into their home.

Our CUR is a network of people all across the US and Canada who are willing to transport a Bulldog adoption candidate anywhere from 100 to 300 miles. Once we have enough people, and adequate geographic distribution of those people, we will be able to transport a Bulldog adoption candidate from a shelter or home where he is unwanted, to his new home where he is wanted, simply by transporting him from one BRRR member to the next, until he reaches his final destination. All members are volunteers who are knowledgeable about the breed and they receive no compensation for their time or work. The BRRR is a temporary transport network. Our mission is to transport good adoption candidates from point "A" to point "B" as quickly as possible. The BRRR will not be used to shuffle foster dogs from one foster home to the next. Dogs will not be put on the Railroad unless they have been evaluated and have a good home waiting for them. The type of Bulldog eligible for transport on the BRRR is: A good, solid adoption prospect which will have a high probability of adapting and doing well in their new home. That means no manbiters (unwarranted) and absolutely no dogs that show any aggression towards children.

The BRRR has now grown to where we have qualified members who will evaluate the adoption candidates and the adoptive homes. Together with other rescue groups and networks already in place that use the BRRR to transport the screened adoption candidates, we are able to successfully rescue and unite bulldogs with loving homes.

The BRRR and it's organizers are not liable for how it's member rescue groups and networks screen their adoption candidates.

The Bulldog Rescue Railroad is soon to reach in a new directions. Having learned of special homes, mostly senior citizens with limited fixed incomes who have a bulldog. A few of these homes contacted us, feeling they had to give up their beloved bulldog to rescue due to being unable to feed and get proper vaccinations, as they couldn't feed themselves, let alone their bulldogs. We understand how the light can go out of the eyes of both human and bulldog when they grew old together and have to be separated. This is where the BRRR can step in. We know how dearly they love their bulldogs, going hungry themselves to see that their bulldogs had all they needed, so we have been helping them keep their bulldogs without the extra sacrifices to their own well being. The BRRR needs volunteer veterinarians, feed stores, etc. who can help these special bulldog/human households that qualify to stay together with quality of life. With some of these homes, their dog's are all they have left in this life. This allows for fewer dogs in the rescue networks and more happy elderly people who feared losing their best friend.

Sometimes rescue means being close and offering help for more than bulldogs, but sometimes for their humans as well.
